The Miami Marlins (nee Florida Marlins) made World Series history on two separate occasions. In 1997 they set a record for being the fastest expansion team to win a World Series in just their fifth season of existence (since broken by the Diamondbacks who won in their fourth year) and also for being the first Wild Card team to do so. They then became the only team to win two WS championships as a Wild Card when the won for a second time in 2003. Their achievements are even more unique in light of having never finished a regular season in first place throughout franchise history.
