Durable hurler Rube Walberg authored several impressive feats during his 15-year career; among them an innings pitched title and a World Series triumph. As he neared an end to his diamond days in 1937, Walberg achieved the 151st of 155 career wins and did so with the offered baseball. This OAL Harridge example shows extensive game use and has been inscribed in Walberg’s hand. Spanning the west to east panels, Walberg’s black ink inscription reads: “Game played at Boston May 24, 1937 – Chicago 5.R 9.H. 3.E. – Batterie sic Rigney Dietrich + Sewell – Boston – 9.R 14.H. 0.E. – Walberg + Desautels.” Accompanying is a full photo LOA signed by Walberg’s daughter.
