Lift your collection to new heights by landing this original Type I Amelia Earhart photo. The pioneering aviator is seen in this 8x10 photo working on the engine of her Lockheed Vega 5B plane at Union Air Terminal in Burbank, California. Attached to this photo is a Wide World Photos Los Angeles Bureau news blub dated 3/28/35, that cites two of Earhart’s historic flights.
These important trips saw Earhart make the first Hawaii to California solo flight on 1/11-12/35 and the first Los Angles to Mexico City solo flight on 4/19/35. The offered photo was taken in between these two flights, after the intrepid flier completed the last leg of a NY to LA transcontinental trip, landing in Burbank five hours after taking off from El Paso.
This vivid and glossy photo is in solid (EX+) condition, with a nicely composed image of the first lady of flight and her beloved Vega plane, which she dubbed “Old Bessie”. The reverse bears a prominent Wide World Photos credit stamp and handwritten notations of the flight times of Earhart’s 1932 transatlantic flight and the 1935 flight from Hawaii over the Pacific.
