Description

Get in gear for this fabulous collection of vintage die-cast cars. Leading toy car brand Matchbox went into retro mode with the launch of its “Models of Yesteryear” line. Made by Lesney, this finely detailed series brought into play miniature recreations of early 20th Century automobiles aimed at adult collectors. (12) Outstanding examples from this underestimated line power up this lot of vintage toy vehicles.

(11) 1960s-1970s Models of Yesteryear Series 2 cars, all in excellent condition with bright paint and generally exceptional gloss and all are housed in crisp, solid original factory boxes with intact flaps, notes on the few minor flaws detected are noted below, with:

#Y-1 1911 Model T Ford red body with a few pinpoint paint chips and some minor scuffing on the plastic black roof canopy, in a type D-3 box with tape repair on one end flap

#Y-2 1911 Renault green body with a few pinpoint paint chips, type E box has one crease on one of the plain blue side panels and some small pencil notations on the top panel

#Y-3 1910 Benz Limousine green body is very clean but plastic rear seat is absent, type E-1 box shows minimal wear

#Y-5 1923 4-1/2 Litre(s) Bentley green body is superior with only one pinpoint paint chip detected on the rear, type E box is very appealing with just the hint of a crease on one blue panel

#Y-6 1926 Type 35 Bugatti red body is brilliant with just one small paint chip on the rear point, gold radiator paint show a bit of wear on the top edge, type E box shows wear on the end flaps only, including a small tear and crease on the same panel

#Y-7 1913 Mercer Raceabout yellow body shows minor scattered paint loss, mainly on the running boards, type E box has light creasing on one blue panel and the body panel

#Y-8 1914 Sunbeam Motor Cycle with Milford Sidecar metallic silver body shows minor wear, but retains a mirror-like finish, type E box has a tear on one end flap and some small pencil notations on the top panel

#Y-9 1912 Simplex green body shows minor traces of wear, type E-1 box is very pleasing

#Y-10 1928 Mercedes 36/220 white body shows very minor traces of wear, type E-1 box is outstadnig with small pencil notations on the bottom panel

#Y-11 1912 Packard Landaulet red body is very pleasing with only a few pinpoints of wear, type E-1 box is outstanding

#Y-12 1909 Thomas Flyabout aqua body is outstanding, type E box has a very minor edge tear and some small pencil notations on the top panel

 

 

(1) 1960s-1970s Models of Yesteryear Series 3 car in original factory box with a #Y-4 1909 Opel Coupe white body shows small, scattered paint chips mostly on the running boards, type E box has one creases on one blue side panel

 

 

(1) 1960s No. 45 Series Ford Corsair with roof rack and boat in original factory box, yellow body shows minimal wear, type E-1 box is clean, solid and vibrant

 

 

Also present is a vintage carrying case with two slide-out trays and (15) loose matchbox cars, the case has the original handle securely attached, minor soiling is evident and the long end flap is absent, the trays are serviceable but one tray is absent one space divider and the other tray has a detached space divider; the (16) loose cars present above average to better, but several are absent of windows and accessories and one has a broken roof cap, includes (3) buses, (3) emergency vehicles, (4) trucks, (1) flatbed and (5) cars including a “Superfast” Mustang No. 8 with orange body showing moderate wear
